Lindsee Leonardo was also arrested on charges of aggravated abuse, neglect and endangerment in the death of her baby boy, Aiden, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported. The 32-year-old suspect remained behind bars at the Knoxville Detention Facility Saturday afternoon in lieu of $350,000 bond. Authorities raced to her home around 8 p.m. on Wednesday following a panicked 911 call from Leonardo, telling them she found her baby unresponsive in the bath tub. Aiden was taken by ambulance to Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center, where he regained his heartbeat, according to an arrest warrant. He was later transferred to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital and was listed in critical condition Thursday night, WBIR reported. On Friday, the hospital announced he had died, less than a month before his first birthday. Leonardo told authorities she stepped outside to “smoke a cigarette and have some ‘me time’” after setting up a bath for her two children. She filled the tub with no more than six inches of water, placed boys inside it and then made her escape from the home. The suspect “stated she was outside for 10 minutes and listened to two songs on her phone,” the warrant reads. When she came back inside, she checked into the bathroom to find that her older child, who is nearly 2 years old, “turned the water on and the bathtub was filled to the top,” according to the warrant. The toddler, who was not injured, was standing in the tub next to his brother, who was floating on the water’s surface when his mother did finally return. Authorities took Leonardo into custody on Thursday and charged her with aggravated abuse, neglect and endangerment. A day later, the Knox County Sheriff’s office added a first-degree murder charge shortly after hospital officials confirmed the death of baby Aiden.
