Dry, Gusty Winds|Fire Weather Around California (10-27-2019)

Dry, Gusty Winds|Fire Weather Around California (10-27-2019) In this video, it shows the Bay Area and much of NorCal experience dry, gusty northerly winds along with fires, especially the raging Kincade Fire in the North Bay… No footage/pics were taken from the Kincade Fire though there were a couple of smaller brush fires spotted while me & my parents were on the way to Lodi, CA this afternoon. Winds were also gusting around San Jose prior to our mini road trip up north. As of this day, the Kincade Fire had burned around 54,000+ acres. Prayers go out to the firefighters and people who were affected by this natural disaster... (Wind event as of Sunday, October 27, 2019)

*Fire update & scenario: The fire started northeast of Geyserville in The Geysers on October 23, 2019 & has since burned 76,800+ acres & was 30% contained. Fanned by wind gusts of 60-80 mph, the Kincade Fire had exploded in size & prompted evacuations early Thursday morning. Several smaller fires also popped up both in Northern & Southern California. The forecasted strong winds were to raise the danger of rapidly spreading wildfires over the weekend. Red flag warnings were issued for parts of the Bay Area & much of NorCal thru Monday morning. Wind gusts of 35-65 mph were expected, with locally higher gusts possible over the highest peaks... The fire threatened over 90,000 structures & had caused widespread evacuations throughout Sonoma County, including the communities of Geyserville, Healdsburg & Windsor. The majority of Sonoma County & parts of Lake County were under evacuation warnings. This fire is the largest of the 2019 California wildfire season...

*Weather update: Critical fire weather conditions were in place especially in portions of the North Bay this day due to the strong, dry winds. What caused this wind event? A strong offshore wind event had shaped up as a sharp dip in the jet stream, quite strong for late October, came thru the Rockies & the Great Basin. Just to our west, a strong high pressure was over the Pacific. Between these two, this perfect setup had caused the gusty northerly winds this day across the area. Widespread power outages from PG&E were also imminent. Be safe out there, everyone! Stay up to date with the fire/weather conditions online or on the news...
