Posture is the position in which someone holds his/her body while standing, sitting and lying down. However, according to a physiotherapist or physical therapist a correct posture is must especially when the women are pregnant and undergoing her first trimester. During pregnancy, there must be the least amount of strain placing on back. There might be a phase where you will feel like too much burden is there on you due to the overbalancing of belly but with the help of certain physiotherapy techniques, you can maintain a good posture which later on helps you in decreasing the stress.

•Pull your neck back a little bit and look straight forward
•One should make sure that the neck is not protruding forward and should be in alignment to the shoulders.
•Put your hand on your belly and Do keep your arms in line with your trunk.
•This will not only increase your confidence but also ease in the breathing as the correct alignment increases the space inside the chest wall.
•Avoid resting too much of your arms on belly as it will put unnecessary pressure on your baby.
•When exercising during pregnancy, it is advisable to seek guidance from a qualified prenatal instructor.
•One should hence adopt the overall correct posture so that the back is automatically straightened to its best.

•Avoid arches and maintain your back naturally as straight as possible otherwise it may cause lower back pain.
•It is advisable for a woman to walk like a duck (waddling gait) during pregnancy, due to joint laxity and broader pelvis.
•According to Body mechanics while walking strike your heel first on the ground and then put your body weight on the whole foot.
•Do stand straight before starting walking
•Don’t put more weight on medial side of the feet as it will cause pronated foot deformity in which your outer side of the foot raises and inner arches disappears
•Take good length steps(neither too much nor too short)
