Hi Everyone! I thought it was time to share one of my best secrets / tips / tricks / crafting hacks with my lovely crafters. If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for items which you can transform into something different, unique, and elevated from what it started as.
Another truth about crafting, is that it gets expensive! So, I’m always on the lookout for inexpensive items I can use to make awesome projects.
That’s where today’s video comes in. I feel like the Dollar Tree waste paper baskets are one of the best kept secrets in the crafting world. First off, they’re only one dollar. Can’t really beat that. The metal is thin and soft. It’s very easy to mold, cut, bend, and reshape.
Due to this, so many things can be made out of the basket and it requires basically no tools. You can bend the metal with your hands. The only time you might need a tool would be if you’re cutting the metal.
In this video, I wanted to show a few things you can do with one of these baskets. I used one basket and some string and that’s it. Mold it into a cool shape and you’re all set. The string is just a colorful accent, the metal will hold its shape without it just fine.
For this video the shape I made works well for a vase or a candle holder, but you could also easily make sculptures or lamp shades. In future videos, I’ll make more projects with them, to hopefully give you some crafting ideas, but for now I wanted to introduce what I use the baskets for and show you how easy they are to work with.
