This teaching is an invitation to meditate deeply on what Jesus did on the cross and why he had to go to the cross.
When we discuss the cross we have to go back to the fall. It's because of the fall that He came, it's because of our sorry state that he had to go to the cross. It begins with the fact that God made man in His image but there was a separation,a fall from fellowship with God and man has been separated from God and has been bound by sin and iniquity since then. And even if you do not understand the fullness of the significance of that, look at the price that God paid; look at what Jesus had to do so that we could be reconciled to God! That should give you some idea of how serious this is. We are humans and we're limited in our ability to conceive of certain things even.
Though the Bible tells us very clearly that eye has not seen nor ear heard what God has prepared for those who love Him, He however has revealed these things to us by his Spirit. I pray today that by the Spirit of God understanding will be communicated to you that you will have revelation of the reason why Jesus had to go to the cross.
Jesus humiliated himself; He humbled Himself. He went through something that He should not have had to go through. He went through the humiliation of the cross (Read Isaiah 53). In the letter to the Philippians the Apostle Paul talks about humility. He tells us that we must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had; though he was God he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.He said Jesus gave up His divine privileges, He took the humble position of a servant and was born as a humanbeing when he appeared in human form. He humbled Himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross! The Lord of Glory died a criminal's death on a cross; He put aside His prerogatives as God and he gave everything up. Just coming to the earth was like becoming a slave.
