What’s your business narrative and what does it tell your employees? Are you satisfied with the level of employee commitment in your organization?

I ask these questions because the most recent Gallup poll found that 70% of people are disengaged in the workforce; in ten years that level of employee disengagement is supposed to rise to 85%. Those numbers mean that in any given company, nearly every team member has quit – they just haven’t left yet.

My aim is to help organizations with employee commitment – to encourage employees to value what their company does, and to help them see their role in the company’s story. It’s important to connect people to the business narrative so that they truly become integrated participants in the success of the company.

This is a problem that comes down to trust. Employees don’t trust management; leaders don’t trust their teams; and customers don’t trust the companies they buy from. There is disconnection everywhere.

The solution to low employee commitment lies in building trust and connection.
