Orgeron had to deliver some tough news to Coach Steve Ensminger hours before the Peach Bowl about the death of Ensminger’s daughter-in-law Carley McCord. Ensminger decided to coach the game and did an unreal job.
“I’m so proud of Steve, he’s the ultimate LSU Tiger,” Orgeron said. “Steve’s like the John Wayne of our staff, he’s a general.”
Also, he discussed how fresh his team is looking and he credits rest and his training staff.
Passing Game Coordinator Joe Brady’s name is coming up for some NFL coaching jobs. How does Orgeron feel about that?
“I believe that we’re in good shape, Joe’s happy here at LSU,” Orgeron said. “We’re going to discuss his final situation after we finish and I do believe Joe will be an LSU Tiger.”
Next, he updated the status of Damien Lewis and Terrace Marshall. Also, he discussed Michael Divinity and whether he will be rejoining the team.
“The final decision hasn’t been made, but it looks positive,” Orgeron said.
Finally, he gave an update on the 2020 class.
“We got some guys we have our eyes on and I think we’re going to finish strong.”
