Mark Francois: 'All I want for Christmas is not EU, I want Big Ben to chime on hour UK leaves EU'

Mark Francois, the deputy chairman of the European Research Group, has been speaking after Boris Johnson reintroduced his Brexit bill in the House of Commons.

Tory MP Mark Francois, a former reservist, is keen on military metaphors and he's been at it again.

He says the "war over Europe is finally coming to an end...not because of a truce but because the British people have imposed their will on us".

He suggests those who tried to thwart the will of the people by "playing every trick in the book" to stop Brexit have got their comeuppance.

He wishes Steve Bray, the megaphone-wielding campaigner famous for bellowing "Stop Brexit" outside Parliament, a "happy and silent retirement" after he came sixth in the seat of Cynon Valley for the Liberal Democrats in the election.

“All I want to for Christmas is not EU,” Francois said while calling for Big Ben to chime on the hour the UK leaves the EU at 11pm on 31st January.
