This is the website with detailed information. We have installed the weather stations and lightning detection system in three locations on the Penn High School and Schmucker Middle School campus.
1. Football Field system located on the radio antenna at the Support Services Center.
2. Soccer Field/Softball Field location light pole
3. Schmucker Football field location light pole
The intent next summer is to install these same units on Discovery Middle School and Grissom Middle School campus. These detection systems notify individuals whom have downloaded the Perry Weather application of lightning strikes at 20 miles, 10 miles and sound the audible alarm (steady alarm tone for 30 seconds) at 6 miles radius of the Penn Campus. An all clear audible alarm will sound after 30 minutes without a lightning strike within the 6 mile radius. This tone will be an intermittent burst alarm at 5 seconds for 5 intervals. In addition to the audible alarms, there is a strobe light to notify patrons visually.
The weather station provides real time weather information via text messages to our administration, sports administration and others wishing to receive these notices using the Perry Weather application available in the play store for apple and android users.
