Congress and NCP are delaying the process to arrive at a mutual decision over the political deadlock in the state. On the other hand, Shiv Sena are in no mood too compromise on the Chief Ministerial post. The ongoing political tussle in Maharashtra took a complete 360-degree turn on Monday as the Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari invited Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the third largest party to indicate willingness and ability to form the government in the state after Shiv Sena failed to submit the requisite letter of support from the alliance partners.
The Governor also gave NCP 24 hours to submit their letter of support to form the government.
However, Shiv Sena said that the two parties- Congress and NCP- have agreed 'in-principle' to support the party-led government. Reports also suggest that the Uddhav Thackeray-led party is now mulling some legal options over governor's refusal to their 48 hours deadline extension.
With the impasse in government formation in Maharashtra entering the 18th day and the prospect of President' s rule is looming over, it would be interesting to see how Shiv Sena, which parted ways with its ally BJP, musters support from various political alliances.
Looking at the current scenario, it is very likely that the state is heading towards President's Rule.
