Dickson debunks claims of flooding, seeks FG, NCAA approval for flight operation The Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson has called on the Federal Government, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and other regulatory bodies to grant approvals for the commencement of flight operations at the Bayelsa international airport.

The governor who went on an inspection tour of the facility along with journalists and some government officials also used the opportunity to further refute claims that the facility is flooded.

The governor had overseen a test landing and takeoff of a flight at the airport on February 14, this year giving Bayelsans and Nigerians hope of an immediate inauguration and commencement of operations, But nine months after the facility has remained unused.

Governor Seriake Dickson took journalists on a tour of the airport to refute a statement credited to the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomole that the facility is flooded.

Governor Dickson along with officials and contractors of the airport inspected the terminal building, control tower, power station, and the 3.5 kilometer-runway.

He noted that the facility has been ready for inauguration and flight activities since February but awaits the approval of the Federal Government and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA.

The Bayelsa international airport, when put to use, is expected to change the socio-economic narrative of Bayelsa state.
