Virtually unknown outwith the Elvis world, Elvis' 1958 recording "Danny" was originally intended for inclusion in the movie "KIng Creole" which was filmed the same year. The lyrics suggest that it was written as a narrative reveal of the movie's main character Danny Fisher portrayed excellently by Elvis himself but for whatever reason it was omitted from the movie before filming began but in retrospect had it been included it would have been the poorest song in the film by some distance. This view seems to have been shared by most who made the decisions in respect to the release of Elvis' recorded material as it would not be until twenty one years later before it would receive an official release as it appeared on "A Legendary Performer - Volume 3". Elvis recorded the song on the Paramount Sound Stage in Hollywood on 11 June 1958, and a total of ten takes were attempted with the final take being selected as the RCA master.
