Let's consider the following data
Working Capital (2017)
Current Assets (2017) = 4,500
Current Liabilities (2017) = 3,400
Working Capital (2017) = 4,500 – 3,400 = $ 1100 million
Working Capital (2016)
Current Assets (2016) = 4,400
Current Liabilities (2016) = 3,600
Working Capital (2016) = 4,400 – 3,600 = $800 million
Net change in Working Capital = 1100 – 800 = $300 million (cash outflow).
