Former ISRO scientist S Narayanan Nambi said Chandrayaan 2's soft landing is the crucial part in this mission. Nambi explained that "if you allow this to land freely, it will go on crash". Chandrayaan 2 was launched from India's Satish Dhawan Space Centre on 22 July. Chandrayaan 2 left Earth's orbit on Aug 14 following a trans Lunar Insertion. Lander Vikram is set to attempt a soft landing near the moon's south pole.
