GREAT NEWS! It was just announced that as of now there will be no requirement to carry this mandatory health insurance when you going to get an O-A Thailand visa for retirement from your home country.
This is great news for people that were going to use this option or strategy for getting their retirement visa for Thailand. This isn't to say that in the future they might require this but I really doubt they will. Requiring retirees that are aging to get mandatory health insurance just isn't feasible in my opinion.
So getting an O-A visa for retirement in your home country is a great option or strategy for people not wanting to have 800,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account or sending 65,000 Thai baht into an account into Thailand. This is great news!
