Anything that takes space and have mass is called matter.
Matter is made up of particles .
It has four main characteristics
a) it's very very tiny
b) it has inter particular space
c) it is in continuous motion
d) it has a force of attraction in between.
Prove them with the help of examples

There are main three states of matter
i ) solid
ii) liquid
iii) gas
