Gemma O'Doherty had her live-streaming abilities restricted after she reported on a Nigerian gang-rapist who gang-raped a 14 year old girl in a Killdare forest but served no prison time after receiving a suspended sentence. He subsequently played professional football for Dublin Bohemians and Waterford FC. He was recently deported and now plays football in Vietnam.
When O'Doherty used an alternative channel to live-stream, both of her youtube channels were deleted. She has been protesting outside Google HQ to get her channels re-instated. Her most popular video — a documentary about Mary Boyle who is Ireland's missing child — received over a million views. There are allegations that gardaí covered up her rape and murder at the request of a Fianna Fáil politician.
In report on FM104's website Councillor James Geoghegan is quoted as claiming to want "to strike a balance between allowing free speech - but not hate speech." However, there is no given definition of "hate-speech" provided in the report.
Geoghegan also claims multiple women are being "targeted by unsavoury characters" associated with far-right groups in the UK at the protest.
"Women particularly, who are going to work and walking along the streets, are being individually targetted by unsavoury characters who have associations with far-right groups right across the UK", he said.
Geoghegan said it was unfortunate that they now have to draw publicity to the protest when they would have preferred not to.
A recent document leaked to Project Veritas by a Google whistle blower over his concerns that Google are election meddling revealed that Google instructs their employers how to protest and tells them to make lots of noise and chant.
