Why I Don't Love Conventional Deadlifts For Pitchers & My Favorite Alternative

Why I Don't Love Conventional Deadlifts For Pitchers & My Favorite Alternative Conventional Deadlifts are one of the "Big 3" of Powerlifting and one of the most common compound movements used to train strength/power among the baseball population. They are simple teach, but also easy to butcher whether due to ego lifting, improper cueing, and/or lack of form competence. But, what if there was a deadlifting variation that avoided some of these negative factors among others and had more skill-specific application? That's where the Snatch-Grip Deadlift comes in for me. Make sure to check out the video for the full breakdown and to see if this is something you should add to your training routine!

What separates Tread Athletics?

Unlike most training philosophies, we take all-inclusive approach to strength, power, and velocity development. We don’t just evaluate and address strength and performance, but lifestyle factors, movement dysfunction, and nutritional habits as well. Rather than fitting athletes into one cut and dry mold, we adapt our programming to address each athlete’s individual needs and goals.
