UK weather forecast: Brits to bask in 27C high this week before rain sets in

UK weather forecast: Brits to bask in 27C high this week before rain sets in Britain will bask in 27C sunshine early this week, before temperatures take a dip and rain spreads across the country.  The mercury will climb from a peak of 24C today to 27C tomorrow, with sunshine expected across much of the UK on both days.  The sunniest places today will be in south, south-west, south-east and central England, Scotland and Wales.  Things will also be bright in south and north-east England and Wales tomorrow, however cloud looks set to cover much of the rest of the country.   The Met Office has said the next three months should be dominated by warm weather and bright skies.  However, the weather will get worse from Wednesday onwards this week, with showers spreading across the country.  Despite warm temperatures on Wednesday, with highs of 25C, there will be heavy rain across Scotland, north Wales and north-east England.  Downpours will be widespread on Thursday, affecting nearly all of the UK, although west Scotland, Northern Ireland and west Wales should see a fairly dry day.    Britain is set for an absolute drenching on Friday, when heavy showers will hit the whole of the UK and temperatures will drop to the mid-upper teens.  A spokesman for netweather.tv said: "Monday follows with a very similar day to today, so plenty of sunny spells once any early morning low cloud burns away.  "There will be the risk of a few showers - this time western and perhaps also central regions with the highest chance, but they'll be few and far between.  "Temperatures will be on a par with Sunday in eastern and central parts, but further west it's expected to be a touch warmer with highs reaching 25c or so in a few spots.    "Into Tuesday, we'll see changes just starting to take place, as we being to head downhill toward a less settled spell of weather.  "What that initial change does is get rid of the onshore breeze which has North Sea coasts and eastern Britain in general cooler of late. That means the east gets in on the warmer act, with temperatures widely heading up into the low-mid twenties.  "Wednesday then sees a spell of wind and rain moving in from the northwest, with sunshine and relatively widespread showers ahead of it. It'll still be very warm with sunny spells away from the showers for most of England though." Met Office five-day weather forecast Today:  Overcast skies in parts of south-east England this morning, but breaking up to give good sunny spells during the afternoon. Elsewhere, mostly dry with sunny spells throughout, but just a small risk of a light shower in some western areas. Tonight:  Mainly fine and dry during the evening. Clear spells for most overnight, but thicker cloud and showers arriving in Northern Ireland and western Scotland through the early hours. Tuesday:  Dry and warm with sunny spells for most. However, across Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Midlands, there is a risk of catching a heavy shower at times. Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:  Cloudy and wet in the northwest on Wednesday
