Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Tehran that Iran is within reach of Israel's air force, while speaking at Nevatim Airbase, south of Be'er Sheva, on Tuesday.
"Iran has recently been threatening Israel with destruction. It should remember that these planes [F-35s] can reach anywhere in the Middle East, including Iran, and certainly Syria," he said.
Netanyahu was visiting a squadron of F-35 warplanes at the airbase. A week ago an Iranian parliamentarian reportedly said that should the US attack Iran, Israel would be destroyed within half an hour.
The exchange of comments came amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran, with the latter recently announcing they would start to enrich uranium beyond limits set under the 2015 nuclear deal.
