Panel Discussion

This is one of the most transformative periods for the public transit industry in Canada’s history. The Canadian federal government has dedicated $22.3 billion USD over 10 years to fund transit infrastructure through the Investing in Canada Plan.

This high-level panel to learn more from leading Canadian local rail systems about how these major investments are occurring, what transit projects are underway and planned. The panel members will answer questions regarding their state of good repair programs, which are key to improving the resiliency of aging assets.

System reliability is a large driver of customer satisfaction. Managing SOGR not only supports safe operations but also drives reliable operations. Reliability is more critical than ever before as our cities’ reliance on mass transit systems has become more closely linked to economic and social success.

This panel will also discuss the importance of creating 10 and 15-year capital budgets to provide a clearer and more
predictable approach to system maintenance and expansion to meet the growing passenger demands that will be created by population growth in Canada’s largest cities.
