Boston mayor says he CAN'T deny a permit for Straight Pride Parade The mayor of Boston says he cannot deny a permit to three men hoping to hold a Straight Pride Parade in his city in late August. Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Mayor Marty Walsh stated that - although he disagreed with the planned parade - 'permits to host a public event are granted based on operational feasibility, [and] not based on values or endorsements of beliefs.'While he revealed that the organization behind the Straight Pride Parade have not yet applied for a permit, he did say that they 'are working to amend their application to host the public event'.  Walsh insisted that the group would 'not change his values', before he urged his constituents to join him for a gay pride parade scheduled for this Saturday 'in the fight for progress and equality for all'.  Boston Mayor Marty Walsh says he cannot deny a permit to three men hoping to hold a Straight Pride Parade in his city in late AugustHe added: 'Boston's values are clear: respect, diversity, and acceptance of all.
