ROYAL WEDDING fever gripped the royal fanbase as Lady Gabriella Windsor’s tied the knot in an idyllic wedding to her long-term partner 40-year-old financier Thomas Kingston in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 18, 2019– in the very same venue for other royal weddings which was decorated with flowers and trees for the big day and on the day before Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's first wedding anniversary. The ceremony was the third royal wedding within a year, with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's last year on May 19 and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s on October 12. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said the venue had personal significance for the young couple, with Lady Gabriella having spent a number of Christmasses with her grandparents,The late Duke and Duchess of Kent, who are in fact buried at Frogmore House, which may add greater resonance for the new bride.
But who’s this low-key royal couple? The bride, Lady Gabriella Windsor, is the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, and 52nd in line to the throne. Gabriella - also known as Ella - is a former HELLO! magazine columnist. Lady Gabriella’s father, Prince Michael, is the Queen’s cousin, and he regularly represents the Royal family at public engagements. Her mother, Princess Michael, is an author, and likely the person Ella inherited her writing skills from. Her older brother, Lord Frederick Windsor, is married to actress Sophie Winkleman and the pair have two children. And, the groom is the director of Devonport Capital, a firm which provides finance for companies in frontier economies, according to the Palace. The professional gained a bachelor’s degree in economic history from Bristol University before he joined the Diplomatic Missions Unit of the United Kingdom's Foreign Office. In 2003, Mr. Kingston moved to Baghdad where he worked to help get the release of hostages before he changed career and moved into finance. Royal fans may recognize the financier, as he is not new to the royal circle who is believed to have dated for a brief period of time in 2011 Pippa Middleton, the sister of Kate, Duchess of Cambridge before he met Lady Gabriella and the pair are thought to have stayed on good terms. While they never confirmed a romantic interest, Thomas appears to be in good terms with the Middletons. While some might see inviting an ex as a bit of a shocker, however, there should be no awkwardness as Pippa had already invited Lady Gabriella and Tom to her wedding back in 2017.
