Scientists say it's not too late to save biodiversity after release of report International scientists said Monday that it was not too late to save biodiversity after the release of a report that says one million animal and plant species are at imminent risk of extinction.

The report found that the devastating impact of modern civilization on the natural world could see the possible extinction happen within decades to many of the estimated one million plant and animal species at risk.

The report was compiled over three years and based on 15,000 scientific papers, identifying a range of risks from the disappearance of insects vital for pollination to the destruction of coral reefs.
