LOCAL PRINCIPAL CLLS FOR TOUGHER EXAM RULES AFTER TRINI SUDENTS CAUGHT WITH PHONES DURING MATH TEST The Principal at the St. Lucia Seventh Day Academy Jacinta Berthier is concerned about the fallout after students in Trinidad were caught with cell phones during the recent CSEC math exams. A pe¬ti-tion has been circulated call¬ing for all stu¬dents to be made to re-sit the ex¬am.
The breach¬es of the 2019 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate ex¬am¬i¬na¬tion reg¬u¬la¬tions in Trinidad and the petition calling for students to re-sit the exam has left them in lim¬bo, with many ex¬press¬ing anger, wor¬ry and sad¬ness over that pos¬si¬bil¬i¬ty. The Min¬istry of Ed¬u¬ca¬tion and the Caribbean Ex¬am¬i¬na¬tion Coun¬cil (CXC) are in¬ves¬ti¬gat¬ing the source of the leak which led to the wide¬spread cir¬cu¬la¬tion of the ex¬am¬i¬na¬tion pa¬pers, Principal at the St. Lucia Seventh Day Academy Jacinta Berthier is concerned about the fallout.
The Principal says the situation is very complicated and that there are a number of factors that come into play. But at the end of the day cheating cannot be tolerated. She says the incident does not portray the Caribbean Examination Council in a good light
Ms. Berthier says the incident raises some serious questions regarding how it was allowed to happen
“The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) is investigating the breach in examination security, after a video surfaced on Facebook showing students of a Trinidad school using their cellular phones and chatting during a CSEC Mathematics examination.”
