Overtime Challenges: How To Collect 20 Coins In Featured Creative Islands: Overtime challenges dropped in Fortnite this morning, somewhat unceremoniously. It's a bit strange because last season we got these things because the developers took a two-week break before deploying Season 8, hence the name. This season they're coming a little less than a week before what we're still assuming is the end of the season, but we'll take them just the same: this is Fortnite, and free loot is always appreciated. There doesn't seem to be anything too taxing showing up either today or for the rest of the season, but one, in particular, you might find confusing if you haven't done it before. Read on for a guide on how to find 20 coins in featured creative islands.
Clearly, in order to do this, you're going to need to boot up creative mode. When you do, you don't want to go to making your own island: you're going to need to visit other people's creations in order to do this. The coins were an item that Epic added last season to give people some little objectives to make inside of their islands beyond the standard combat stuff: when people make deathrun courses, race tracks or just platforming challenges, they can put the coins in for people to find.
So that's how you'll start: go into creative mode, but don't go into your own islands. Instead, go into any portal marked "featured", and ignore the "set island code" button. Just walk through the portal to get started.
I can't tell you exactly where to find these coins because they're different for every island, and there are far more than 10 in total. One good source seems at the time of writing is Howling Heights, a sort of building and platforming challenge. But you'll need more than one in order to fill this entire challenge, so explore around. If you don't see anything that piques your fancy, check back later.
Every match is different, but for the most part, you find the coins by exploring. Just load up an island and look around: there's a distinct orange glow that comes from a coin, a little like a treasure chest but stronger. And remember to enjoy yourself: creative mode is lowkey one of the most interesting parts of Fortnite, and it's grown immensely since it first launched.
