It is my pleasure to welcome you to our Nalandha School, an independent school dedicated to challenging, engaging, and nurturing kindergarten through tenth grade students of high intellectual ability. While many schools have gifted students and programs, Nalandha is a truly unique learning environment in which every aspect of the school has been specifically designed for gifted learners. For more than fifteen years, our balanced focus on meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of gifted learners has created an environment that allows each student to thrive and realize their potential. Nalandha’s students are enthusiastically engaged in their learning, supported by well-trained and caring teachers who work in partnership worth parents to ensure the very best opportunities for every child. The Nalandha community embraces both our common focus on gifted children and the diverse range of unique cultural, religious, and experiential experiences of our families. Nalandha fosters a respect for diversity that prepares our students for participation in a complex and changing world.
Some may question why gifted students need their own distinct academic program. My own experience in working with high ability learners over the past three decades has led me to understand that gifted students need a faster pace, deeper and richer content, and a peer group that shares their passion for learning, Without this, many gifted students never reach their true potential. Whether in our lower of middle school, Nalandha students are immersed in challenging and engaging activities, guided by caring, talented adults, and surrounded by supportive peers. Learning is focused on collaborative, real world problem solving, enhanced by being part of a community of gifted learners where it is “ok to be smart.” Nalandha students have the opportunity to do amazing things.
Nalandha also offers a full range of activities beyond the classroom. Students have the opportunity to participate in before and after school enrichment activities such as art, chess, choir, coding and programming, debate, mandarin, martial arts. mine craft, and various sports clinics. Middle school students can participate in team sports as part of the Nalandha Middle School League.
