Chairman Pickett Lectures: "There's No Money to Appropriate"

During discussion of the Sheriff's Department funding Ordinance 19-16, Budget & Finance Committee Chair Democrat John Pickett lectured his newer JP/fellow committee members about "micromanaging" decisions the Quorum Court expects elected officials to make.

Pickett also motioned to hold the Ordinance "until the next Budget & Finance Committee meeting." He asserted the Committee could not pass an ordinance onto the full Court if there's "no money to appropriate," an incorrect position clarified later by County Attorney David Hogue (which allowed the Sheriff's Department funding Ordinance 19-16 to be passed in committee).
